Wildcats 52 v 84 Stoke

Craig Hopkins with 16 points becomes the fourth player to break 50 points for the season and Ben Head becomes the fifth
Phil Chamberlain becomes the first Wildcat this season to break the 100 rebound barrier and becomes the second Wildcat to break into double figures for blocks
Ben Head becomes second Wildcats to play more than 300+ minutes this 2000-01 season

Having lost to Stoke 67-96 earlier in the season, Wildcats took to the floor without Ed Parry and the injured Chris Stevens, and soon found themselves 0-3 down following the first Stoke offence. But Wildcats took a 4-3 lead thanks to a brace from Simon Stewart and Craig Hopkins. After Stoke had restored their advantage 4-5 in the fourth minute, Wildcats through the same combination took a 3 point lead 8-5 during the sixth minute. After Phil Chamberlains first basket Wildcats had restored their three point Advantage
10-7 with three minutes of the first quarter remaining.

At this point some totally strange officiating saw Wildcats lose the initiative and Stoke regained the ascendancy to outscore Wildcats 11-0 to lead at the end of the first quarter 10-18

Wildcats started the better of the two sides at the beginning of the second quarter outscoring the high flying Stoke side 8-4 to reduce Stokes lead to four points 18-22.

But five missed foul shots undermined Wildcats game including some incompetent officiating which enabled Stoke to outscore Wildcats and take a ten point half time advantage 25-35

despite scoring the first basket of the second half, Wildcats soon lost Big Man Phil Chamberlain with an injured thumb, and some poor decision making , pass selection and one dribble and shot or one pass and shot offence saw Wildcats fail to score and Stoke gleefully accepted the gifts for easy uncontested lay-ups to totally dominate the third quarter 13-28

The final quarter saw Stoke open up with a 12-0 burst to kill off any chance of a Wildcats comeback through too many bad passes and decision making,.

But Wildcats fought back to outscore the home team 14-9 over the final stretch stopping Stoke from scoring over the final five minutes as Stoke ran out convincing winners by 32 points 52-84
